San Marcos Covid Housing Relief Program

BR3T partnered with Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas to administer the City of San Marcos Covid Housing Relief program. Together we administered over $740,000 in Covid relief funds to assist 219 households with up to 3 months of rent, mortgage, and/or utility assistance. Applications were open June 1, 2021 – October 4, 2021. These funds were a combination of CDBG-CV funds and other funds allocated to the program by the San Marcos City Council.

Including the $300,000 December 2020 Hays County Covid Relief program, BR3T has helped administer over $1 Million in Covid-19 Housing Relief funds with applications accepted over 5 months.

A quote from a resident who had already been displaced from her home that we helped get a new rental:

"Thank you again for all your help your the only one that actually returned my phone call and treated me like a humans should treat each other and didn't talk down to me 3wks I've been trying to reach out to all the resources that were available and you were the only one that took the time to call and help me THANK YOU !!!"

BR3T responds to the Winter Storm Uri of February 2021

Winter Storm Uri, the severe weather event of February 2021, consisted of multi day freezing temperatures, snow, power outages, blackouts, and water service disruptions. Homes were damaged by the snow, freezing temperature, pipes bursting, and water damage.

BR3T has raised over $80,000 to repair homes in our four counties damaged by the Winter Storm. We are grateful for the grants we have received from Texas Congregational Disaster Readiness, Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders administering Red Cross funds, ADRN (Austin Disaster Relief Network), and SBP (St. Bernards Project).

A quote from a resident we helped:

Before BR3T came into my life after the freeze I was feeling so very defeated, helpless scared, I had no idea what I was going to do, everything was falling apart around me once again...all I knew to do was pray..then I received a call from [BR3T] and I had hope again...she stood by my side throughout all the ups and downs and told me dont give up. For that I am forever grateful… I finally have some peace of mind knowing that I am going to be ok...I am safe... ...no more mold...I can finally breathe literally and figuratively. Thank you for giving me my life back. Forever Grateful
